Founded on May 15th, 1970 by Alcan Alumínio do Brasil Ltda, Alcominas (currently Alcoa Alumínio S.A.) and by Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA), companies that produce aluminium, together with manufacturing companies Aisa Alumínio Indústria Ltda, Asa Alumínio S.A. Extrusão e Laminação and Kaiser Alumínio do Brasil S.A. Aisa and Asa were incorporated in the early 1980´s by Alcoa Alumínio S.A. A common forum was then created for the discussion of issues relating to the aluminium industry aiming at reaching a consensus on interests between producers and manufacturers, increasing the industry representation with the government and community.
